How to measure for outdoor box cushions
Description
How to measure for outdoor box cushions
Gather Your Tools
- Measuring Tape – Flexible and accurate.
- Pen & Paper – To jot down measurements clearly.
A. Seat Cushion Measurements

- Length (Longest Side)
- Measure across the front of the seat from one corner to the other.
- If the front edge curves or angles, measure at the widest point.
- Width (Short Side)
- Measure from the front edge of the seat to where it meets the chair’s back.
- If the seat is deeper on one side, measure the deepest area.
- Height (Thickness)
- Choose how thick you want the cushion.
- Most outdoor box cushions are 5–10 cm thick, though some people prefer 3 cm for a sleeker look or up to 15 cm for extra comfort.
- Tip: Consider whether you have enough space underneath any tables or arms when choosing thicker cushions.
B. Back Cushion Measurements

- Length (Longest Side)
- Measure across the top of the backrest from one side to the other.
- If it narrows or widens, measure at the widest point you want covered.
- Width (Short Side)
- Measure from the top edge of the backrest down to where it meets the seat.
- Adjust for any curves or angles as needed.
- Height (Thickness)
- Decide if you want the back cushion thickness to match or differ from the seat cushion.
Final Tips
- Measure Twice – Double-check for accuracy.
- Round Up or Down – Simplify fractions based on how snug you want the fit.
- Note Curves/Angles – If your chair isn’t a true rectangle, measure the widest/longest areas.
- Check Obstructions – Make sure thicker cushions won’t interfere with tables or arms.
Keep these measurements handy when placing your order—Length, Width, Height for both seat and back cushions—to ensure a perfect fit for your outdoor box cushions. If you have any questions, we’re here to help!
