How to measure for Custom Curtains

Here are the steps you can follow to measure a window for custom-made curtains
(if you don’t have existing rails) :

1. First, measure the width of the window frame. Take your measuring tape and measure from the inside edge of the frame on the left side to the inside edge on the right side. Note down the measurement.

2. Next, measure the height of the window frame. Measure from the top inside edge of the frame to the bottom inside edge. Note down the measurement.

3. If you want floor-length curtains, measure from the top of the window frame to the floor. If you want sill-length curtains, measure from the top of the window frame to the windowsill. Note down the measurement.

Here are the steps you can follow to measure a window for custom-made curtains
(if you already have existing rails/rods) :

1. Measure the width of the rail from one end to the other. Make sure to measure the actual width of the rail, not the window frame. If you’re measuring a rod – make sure not to include the finals (i.e. the decorative end piece that is attached to the end of a curtain rod).

2. Measure the drop length: Measure the length from the top of the rail to the desired length of the curtains. If you want floor-length curtains, measure from the top of the rail to the floor. If you want shorter curtains, measure to the desired length.

By following these steps, you can measure your window accurately and confidently order custom-made curtains.

At Fabricsuperstore we offer an additional measuring and installation service on request. This service is only available to our Cape Town clients and surrounding areas.
